Kenapa tanggal 2 Oktober 2009?.Karena pada hari itu UNESCO akan mengukuhkan Batik Indonesia sebagai World Heritage atau Warisan Budaya Indonesia.Dengan demikian batik akan resmi menjadi budaya Indonesia dan tidak akan dijamah (baca: diklaim) oleh negara tetangga (baca : Malaysia).
Pastinya berita ini menjadi angin segar untuk para budayawan dan nasionalis di negeri ini.Setelah beberapa kasus yang masih segar di ingatan ketika negara tetangga mencoba meng-klaim budaya kita tanpa tanggung-tanggung.
Akankah tanggal 2 Oktober 2009 dijadikan hari nasional batik?.Harapan saya sih semoga saja direalisasikan.Toh batik kan budaya kita yang sudah ada sejak zaman Majapahit.
